Our Story

Virginia Beach Junk Pros was built around a single frustration we heard from customers repeatedly: junk removal companies that give one number on the phone and a different number when the truck shows up. We started with a different approach — show up, see what's there, write it down, and commit to that number before lifting a single item. That written-quote-first model has been the foundation of how we operate since we opened.

We're based in Virginia Beach and we know this market specifically. We know what a coastal climate does to appliances. We know what a military PCS departure looks like logistically and what kind of timeline pressure military families are under. We know the difference between a Kempsville ranch-home garage clear and an Oceanfront condo haul. That local knowledge shapes how we quote, how we schedule, and how we staff our crew.

Locally Owned, Virginia Beach–Based

We are not a franchise operation and we are not a national booking platform that dispatches whoever is available. We are a Virginia Beach company staffed by people who live and work in the Hampton Roads area. When you call (757) 317-6772, you reach someone who works for Virginia Beach Junk Pros — not a call center in another state routing your job to a subcontractor.

We have a stake in the reputation of this business in this community. Hampton Roads is a relatively small metropolitan area where word-of-mouth matters. Every job we do in Kempsville, Bayside, Great Neck, the Oceanfront, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and the rest of the region is a job that either builds our reputation or damages it. We don't have the luxury of being anonymous — and we don't want to be.

What Makes Us Different

Written quote before we start. Every single job. The number you approve is the number you pay. We've seen too many customers burned by verbal estimates that change when the truck arrives — we eliminated that risk from our process on day one.

EPA Section 608 certified refrigerant recovery. Refrigerators, chest freezers, and window AC units require certified refrigerant recovery before hauling under federal law. Our crew holds this certification and applies it on every applicable unit. We don't skip this step, we don't upsell it — it's standard procedure on every refrigerant-bearing appliance we remove.

We carry from inside. You don't stage items at the curb, at the door, or in the hallway. We go into any room, any floor, and carry out from wherever the items sit. This is the full-service model — not a "curb haul" dressed up as junk removal.

Donation routing, not default landfill. Usable furniture and household goods are routed to Virginia Beach-area donation centers before going to the landfill. Electronics go to certified e-waste processors. We divert from the landfill wherever the material genuinely qualifies — not just as a sales pitch, but as actual routing in our operation.

Military family scheduling priority. PCS move timelines are real constraints. We understand that a family on military orders has a hard report date that doesn't flex. When a military family tells us they have a deadline, we treat it like a deadline.

Our Service Area

We serve all of Virginia Beach and the greater Hampton Roads metro. Our standard service zone covers Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Hampton, Newport News, and Smithfield. No travel surcharges within this zone — Hampton Roads standard pricing applies to every address.

Our Credentials

Licensed in Virginia: Virginia contractor licensed and insured. We carry general liability insurance on every job — protecting you and protecting our crew.

EPA Section 608 Certified: Active certification for refrigerant recovery on air conditioning and refrigeration equipment. Required by federal law for appliance haul-away; applied on every applicable unit we remove.

Virginia Electronic Waste Compliance: Virginia's Electronic Waste Recycling Act governs the disposal of covered electronic devices. We route electronics to certified e-waste processors in compliance with Virginia DEQ requirements.

Virginia Mattress Recycling: Mattress removal is routed through Virginia's mattress recycling program, diverting mattresses and box springs from landfill to material recovery facilities.

Why We Specialize in Junk Removal

Junk removal sits at an intersection that most people don't appreciate until they need it: physical labor, regulatory compliance, local relationships, and a service model built around variable job scope. A one-bedroom apartment clear and a full two-car garage cleanout with three appliances are the same "junk removal" call but entirely different jobs. Pricing them correctly, staffing them correctly, and routing the material correctly requires genuine expertise in this specific service — not a moving company that hauls junk on the side, not a landscaper who takes furniture between lawn jobs.

We do one thing and we do it well. The EPA certification is current. The donation relationships are active. The written quote process is practiced on every job. That's what specialization looks like in this business.

What We Don't Do

We don't haul hazardous materials — paint cans with liquid paint, chemical drums, motor oil, pesticides, asbestos-containing materials, or medical waste. These require specialized handling and licensed contractors. We'll tell you clearly during the estimate walkthrough if anything you have falls outside our scope, and we'll point you toward the appropriate resource.

We don't give binding prices over the phone. We can give you a rough range for common jobs to help you budget, but the number you commit to is the number from the on-site written estimate — not a phone estimate that becomes a "base price" when the crew arrives.

We don't skip the refrigerant recovery step on refrigerators and freezers because a customer wants a faster or cheaper haul. Federal law requires it; our EPA certification obligates us to it; and we're not going to create a federal violation to save a few minutes.

How We Got Here

Virginia Beach Junk Pros grew out of direct experience with what the local junk removal market was getting wrong: inconsistent pricing, non-certified appliance hauling, crews that showed up unprepared for the actual job scope, and a general lack of accountability between what was promised on the phone and what happened on the job day. We built our operation specifically around those failure points. The written-quote model, the EPA certification, the full-service interior carry-out policy — each one addresses a specific problem we saw repeated in the market before we launched.

Hampton Roads is a market we know well, with specific characteristics that reward local expertise: the military turnover cycle, the coastal appliance wear pattern, the hurricane season debris cycle, the aging housing stock in the established suburbs. We didn't learn these patterns from a franchise operations manual — we learned them by doing the work here.
